Two New Keynotes for CUSEC 2005

We previously announced two of the keynotes for our upcoming conference “CUSEC 2005: Thinking Outside the Cubicle” that is to take place in Ottawa, Ontario from January 13th to the 15th, 2005; organized by Carelton University. We are ready to announce two more keynotes: Dr. Alistair Cockburn and Bran Selic.

I am really looking forward to seeing both of these gentleman speak. Here is some more information about both the speakers.

Dr. Alistair Cockburn
President, Humans and Technology

Author of:

  • “Surviving Object-Oriented Projects” (1998)
  • “Writing Effective Use Cases” (Jolt Productivity Award 2001)
  • “Agile Software Development” (Jolt Productivity Award 2002)

Alistair Cockburn is consulting fellow at Humans and Technology. He is responsible for helping clients succeed with object-oriented projects, including: corporate strategy, project setup, staff mentoring, process development, technical design and design quality. Mr. Cockburn has over 20 years of experience, leading projects in hardware, software, research, and application systems. He is an internationally recognized expert on object-oriented software development, and appreciated as a collaboration facilitator.

Bran Selic
Principal Engineer, IBM Canada

Author of:

  • “Real-Time Object-Oriented Modeling”
  • “UML 2000 - The Unified Modeling Language: Advancing the Standard”

From IBM’s website:
Bran Selic is principal engineer at IBM Rational software Canada. He has close to 30 years of experience in the software industry particularly in the design and development of large-scale real-time systems. This experience spanned multiple industrial domains including telecommunications, aerospace, and robotics. Bran is the principal author of the book Real-Time Object-Oriented Modeling, considered as a primary reference on the application of the object paradigm to real-time applications. To date, he has published over 50 technical papers in various journals and scientific conferences and is a frequent keynote and invited speaker at such conferences.
