Computers and Games

This weeks question of the week is going to be a little lighter then last weeks. Taking the time to answer the following two questions might bring back some happier memories from the past. :-)

  1. If you were a computer game (don’t limit yourself to PC, Xbox and PS are also computer games) which would you be and why?

  2. What was your first computer? I can’t remember exactly, but I think it was (I was 6 or something) a 286 with a text menu interface (F6 was the games menu for “Digger”, “PacMan” and “Frogger”), it might have had a colour monitor or was it the orange and black monotone, but it definitly had a turbo button! w00t!

Question #1 = What computer game would you be? Question #2 = Why would you be that computer game?

Christopher answered the question and that is why you have 2 points - must be poor HTML coding or blogging… or just a copy-paste from a MS-Word that kept the HTML….

I would be a very boring game. This way, I wouldn’t have to bother about the very few people wasting their life ‘using’ me. Can’t really give a title, I havn’t followed any of those developments in years.

First PC was a 386 TX (12.5 mhz, with Turbo on). It had 640k of RAM (according to Bill Gates, it’s more than anyone will ever need), 30 mb hard drive and a 16 color monitor. It was running DOS and Norton Commander, also had Windows 1.0 installed (kept crashing).

It had some success titles on… such as Pac-Man, Arkanoid, Tetris, Tetris 3D (really), Pong, King Quest, Space Quest, Larry Leisure Suite and many others.

What was this question all about anyway?

ElvisIsGod: I don’t use MS Word. ;)

These are two questions I have seen asked before, and JJK stuck them together.

There is no [point|hidden meaning|interesting side note|lesson] to the question. But it can give pretty good insight as to how people started into Software Engineering.

If I were a game I’d be “frozen bubble”. Somehow simple and complex all at the same time, and strangly addictive (so much so they time how long you play in the binary).

My very first computer, embaressingly enough, was a 1.66 MHz Pentium with 32MB of Ram and 2GB of HD space. What a machine. Actually, for some unknown reason, at times the computer just wouldn’t boot and I would have to unplug and re-plug it. Serves me right for buying something from Microbytes.

As for the game question, this is a tough one…but I would have to say “Who wants to be a millionaire” just so I could be Regis and diss players for their stupid answers.

FYI, I’m a sports gamer…my favorite games have been any game that has come out in any sport (including fishing games)…except the recent EA NHL titles, they’re well under par.
