What is an Automated Continuous Integration (CI) System?

Continuous integration (CI) builds upon the concept of “daily build and smoke tests or nightly builds”. CI came out of the Extreme Programming world where they felt that having only one daily test did not give enough and the right type of feedback.

In “Continuous Integration”, an article written by Jeffrey Fredrick and published in the Better Software magazine, you are introduced to the concept of Continuous Integration and how to implement Continuous Integration in your software process by using CruiseControl a free framework used specifically to implement CI in your process.

For those who want a good introduction to CI, I recommend you read the article.
