The planes couldn’t communicate with LAX because a technician didn’t reset the “system” AND the backup system was not configured properly to take over radio communications. No one was killed, just a tonne of money was wasted for 3 hours. Probably a few million I’m sure.
That’s not good. I’m glad my web server doesn’t have the same problems that U.S. airport control towers do (LAX uses the approved FAA system of course), otherwise it would have hung 16.3 days ago, and since it doesn’t have a backup system… Well there ya go!
